AEROBOTICS

About

The Aerodynamics Team specializes in flight characteristics with jurisdiction over the wing, tail, ailerons, elevators, and rudder of the aircraft. This team has the crucial role of deriving mathematical and physics-based models to determine the aircraft's optimal geometry for the assigned mission set. Aerodynamics members conduct score sensitivity studies, weight estimations, and nonlinear optimization to establish aircraft size and weight specifications. They also execute airfoil and stability analyses to investigate the aircraft's flight performance. Computational fluid dynamics and flight envelope models are done afterwards to further define aerodynamic loads and limitations.
